Are You Prepared To Meet God?

We spend much of our lives making preparations for many different things, including homes, education, jobs, family, vacations, and hobbies.  But when was the last time you took inventory of your soul to see if you were really prepared to meet God?  The Bible teaches that some day, maybe today, you will stand before Him and give an account of your life.  Friend, heed the warning of the prophet Amos as he proclaims: Prepare to meet thy God.” (Amos 4:12)

Here’s how to prepare . . .

1.  Realize you are a sinner.

Be honest with yourself and God. He already knows everything about you!

For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

2.  Recognize your need of salvation.

You need to be saved … saved the Bible way.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8, 9)

3.  Repent of your sin.

Be willing to turn from your sin and your attempts to save yourself – and turn to Jesus Christ, who is waiting to save you.

… except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:3)

Jesus saith unto him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.” (John 14:6)

4.  Receive Jesus Christ as your Saviour.

Your sins bear a death penalty – “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23).  Jesus Christ paid this sin-debt when He died on a cross and bore your sins in His body.  He died for you!  He is waiting this very moment to save you if you will open your heart by faith and invite Him to come in.

But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.” (John 1:12)

And they said, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, ….’” (Acts 16:31)

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:9, 10, 13)

5.  Remember His promise.

God’s Word says that salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ alone.  This is the only way to be saved!  These are not fables, or theories, they are the promise and Word of God.

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” (I John 5:13)

Verily, verily, I say unto you, ‘He that heareth My word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.’” (John 5:24)

All that the Father giveth Me shall come to Me; and him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out.” (John 6:37)

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand. I and My Father are one.” (John 10:27-30)
